The Pullman National Monument located on the city’s far South Side is one of 20 sites throughout the country that has an opportunity to win a $250,000, but in order to receive a piece of the $2 million in total grants being provided by Partners In Preservation, the old factory town turned national monument needs your help.
The Partners in Preservation organization, which is a collaboration between the National Trust for Historic Preservation, American Express, and National Geographic, will be handing out grants to the eight parks that receive the most votes. However, to vote, users are required to sign up using an email address or Facebook account. Users will be able to vote for five park sites daily until July 5.
According to the contest, if Pullman earns one of the $250,000 grants being offered, the funds would be used to help rehabilitate the iconic Pullman Administration Building and transform it into a visitors center. As of yesterday morning, the Historic Pullman Foundation indicated that Pullman was in 18th place in voting.
